The aroma of Cypress trees creates part of the light breezy smell in a Mediterranean forest. The absolute, which is an uncommon perfumery raw material, lasts longer than the more common essential oil (which we also stock). It's deep, woody and mossy.
Very thick dark green, gum like liquid. Heating in a hot water bath is advised (a bowl of hot water from the kettle will do) before weighing out with a spatula (this can be cleaned afterwards with Perfumer's alcohol).

One of my favourite ingredients. If you are looking at chypres, you must own this. Quite different to the essential oil which is also stocked here at FF.

The sheer quality of this absolute and the effect it has is indescribable. At such a good price too, you’ll be hard pressed to find anything better. It’s a bit of a pain to work with so definitely follow the advice and heat in a small dish of water, but it’s so worth it!

Cypress Absolute smells deliciously woody and has an almost top note initial woodiness that very, very slowly dries down into a sweeter, more traditional Cypress note. I will only be using it in small quantities. It is however a very intractable gummy material. The jar FF supplied the 19g in had sufficient space above to allow 10g of alcohol to added to the jar, allowing a dilution of 50% without handling the material directly.
Also came with hugely useful preprinted dilution labels.
