Damascone beta is one of the key compounds in the damascone family of molecules. Damascones are very important in perfumery due to their ability to add projection to fragrances when present in trace amounts. Damascone beta is naturally found inside of rose, and despite it's low concentration in the flower, it is disproportionally responsible for the sweet, radiant aspect of the scent of roses. Damascones are also naturally found in tobacco and important in it's smell too. To the perfumer here at The Fragrance Foundry, damascone beta is a favourite aromachemical, describing the smell to be reminiscent of sweet autumnal apples fallen on the earthy ground.
