Damascone alpha is a very commonly used fruity-apple radiant aromachemical which is used in all number of floral and fruity accords, as well as in trace amounts to add a fruity-floral projection to fragrances. It smells juicy and apple-plum leaning when pure but is usually used in traces for its effect on compositions. It's more economical than the closely related Damascone beta (both are naturally found in roses), making it a popular choice in the fragrance industry for general use in increasing the performance of compositions.
