Methyl pamplemousse is a classic synthetic note in perfumery used to great a grapefruit note. Unlike real Grapefruit oil (which gives the truest grapefruit smell), Methyl pamplemousse is cheaper, more consistent between batches, less restricted and has a longer shelf life. It's very popular in all types of modern perfume compositions such as Terre d'Hermès and Spicebomb, and is very useful in cologne type formulations.
