Benzyl salicylaat wordt uitgebreid gebruikt in parfumerie als een belangrijk structureel component in veel composities en is een belangrijk onderdeel van het Mellis akkoord. Alleen ruikt het subtiel, warm, balsamisch en bloembladachtig. Het is zeer nuttig als langdurig structureel component om bloemige akkoorden en het hart van parfums in het algemeen te ondersteunen. Het helpt andere materialen te mengen en wordt vaak vrijgevig gebruikt.
