Linalyl acetaat is een van de belangrijkste bestanddelen van zowel Bergamot- als Lavendel etherische oliën. Op zichzelf ruikt het zachter en schoner, het vertegenwoordigt een enkele zachte wazige toon. Het is uitstekend als mengstof tussen top en mid noten in parfumcomposities, de andere materialen opvullend met een warme zachtheid (vergelijkbaar met hoe Bergamot traditioneel wordt gebruikt maar met minder van een openlijk citrus karakter). Dit materiaal wordt uitgebreid gebruikt in moderne parfumcomposities.
