Phenylethyl alcohol (commonly known as PEA) is a staple in the perfumer's palette. It's used for recreating the delicate and diffusive scent of flower petals. Phenylethyl alcohol is primarily used to build out the core structure in countless floral accords, in particular rose (in combination with Geraniol and Citronellol). Other raw materials, like beta ionone are often added to the structural components like phenylethyl alcohol to give round out the accord and give colour and personality. Phenylethyl alcohol's highly diffusive nature also means it's sometimes added to perfumes in small amounts as a standalone addition to augment performance aspects such as to enhance projection.
