A remarkable book and one I already know I will reread many times.

Most perfume books teach formulas, materials, or history. Jean-Claude Ellena teaches perception, restraint, elegance, and the philosophy behind perfumery itself.

I am already reading it for the second time and it has only been in my hands for three days. My plan is to read this book once a month for the first year because it is the kind of work that reveals more each time you return to it.

The writing is simple, refined, and deeply intelligent, much like great perfumery itself.

You begin to understand that perfume is not just about adding more materials, but about balance, space, memory, emotion, and knowing what to leave out.

An essential book for anyone serious about understanding the art of scent.

I started collecting fragrances around 18 months ago. This lead to me want a greater understand of how they are constructed, what goes into their creation and why do I like the ones I do. This book has really opened my eyes to a world I really knew nothing about and has pushed me to start perfumery myself. I'm sure this is the start of a wonderful new hobby. Highly recommend reading the book.

I ordered some supplies for my ‘lab’ and everything has been of the best quality, packaged perfectly and the delivery was swift. The 10ml glass bottles are the best I’ve used so far. As a hobbyist/ beginner I cannot recommend this book enough. I am still reading it but already the amount of knowledge I am acquiring safe to say is more than the price of the document itself
