If you had to choose one piece of equipment that's really worth investing in for perfumery, it would probably be a precision balance. A good set of scales allows you to accurately weigh small amounts, meaning you can reduce the size of your trials and save on raw material expenditure.
This set of scales is made for a scientific laboratory, allowing you to weigh out your perfume formulas with 0.001g precision. The scale includes a calibration weight and power adapter, although it can also be powered with a 9v battery. A wind-shield is also provided to help mitigate against minute weight deviations due to air currents. This scale offers excellent value as an entry level professional scale.

Perfect entry level scales for perfumery. It is easy to use, works well with minimal setup, and sensitive enough to detect a light breeze (though it comes with a shield to negate that).
As always with The Fragrance Foundry it was shipped and delivered swiftly.
Just got delivered lab scale and some perfumery supplies. The scale is excellent quality and very precise. Also got a collectors card, hope to get some more in different color. Everything was packaged with care. The shop is overall very good, great variety and fast shipping, and Sam is of course an inspiration!
I bought a precision scale which is not only a good quality scale but also cheapest in the UK. It also came with a 200g calibration weight which is absolutly handy!
I wasn't sure what to expect when buying this balance, I spent several days searching and trying to find a balance in the 500g range. Ideally I wanted one with 0.001g (1mg) accuracy and a power supply (Not battery powered) because the battery saving auto shutdown timers drive me nuts. I struggled to find anything with 0.001g accuracy that didn't cost thousands of pounds. Most of the balances in my price range (About £100) only offered 0.1 - 0.01g accuracy. Needless to say, I was very pleased when I found this fragrance foundry balance although a little sceptical of the 500 x 0.001g accuracy claim simply due to the scarcity and price of them in this range. I've now been using this balance for about a month and haven't regret the purchase for a second. I've tested with multiple different calibration weights, class a volumetric pipettes, micro pipettes and calibrated some pycnometers. Always getting reliable, repeatable and accurate weights to within 0.001g. Very impressed. 10/10.
I’d been looking to upgrade my scales for a while and when I saw Sam was selling these scales, at what I thought was a keen price for a precision instrument, I decided to buy some. I’m very pleased with them and would recommend them to anyone thinking of upgrading.
