If you had to choose one piece of equipment that's really worth investing in for perfumery, it would probably be a precision balance. A good set of scales allows you to accurately weigh small amounts, meaning you can reduce the size of your trials and save on raw material expenditure.
This set of scales is made for a scientific laboratory, allowing you to weigh out your perfume formulas with 0.001g precision. The scale includes a calibration weight and power adapter, although it can also be powered with a 9v battery. A wind-shield is also provided to help mitigate against minute weight deviations due to air currents. This scale offers excellent value as an entry level professional scale.

Again, as with all products here - it does what you expect from it really well. You get what you pay for, although one star down because you pay more than elsewhere. But still, I chose to buy here because of Sam's reputation and I am sure if anything was amiss, he would handle it. The balance itself is quite precise for how much it costs, although oscillation is quite annoying at times. Also - do not bother with 9V batteries, it eats them for breakfast, lunch and 2 for dinner. Just plug it and use it that way.
The balance is pretty decent for what you need for perfumery and for what it costs.
I found the measurement tended to oscillate more *with* the windguard so I left it off. I'd recommend finding a place to plug in at your workstation since it chews through 9V batteries pretty quick and the battery connector isn't very robust.
Also, there are places that will sell very similar balances for much less if you're budget-conscious or have to avoid import tariffs. I like to support Sam though since he's put out a lot of good perfumery content on Youtube which doesn't pay well!

I am from Germany and this was my first time ordering here. I ordered some RAW materials as well as the entry-level precision analytical lab balance (500 × 0.001 g), which has made my work many times easier. At first, I was briefly concerned because the shipment tracking process via the Shop app was new to me.
I will definitely order again, because the raw materials are simply of very high quality and the delivery, including customs, worked smoothly without any issues. So if anyone is worried, I can reassure you—you won’t regret it.
