Gamma undecalactone, otherwise known as “Aldehyde C14” (a misnomer since it’s not actually an aldehyde), was discovered in 1908 and since then has been the go-to classic peach note in perfumes (a revolution back when it was discovered). When pure it smells waxy, however this deceptively strong aromachemical can be used in dilution inside formulas to create an instant juicy peach note.
