Cinnamyl alcohol is half way between PEA and Cinnamal (the principal odourant which causes the smell of cinnamon). Cinnamyl alcohol is therefore often disappointing to those wanting a pure cinnamon smell. The real strength of Cinnamyl alcohol is in constructing floral accords (mirroring nature), where it acts as the native way to add the spicy nuances found in many flowers in the appropriately soft and subtle way. Beyond flowers, cinnamyl alcohol is also found in some balsams like Peru Balsam, and it follows that it's very helpful when creating balsamic incense accords.
