Commonly used in recreating a milk/dairy note in flavours and fragrances. To me milk lactone smells like milk-bottle sweets. We decided to add it to our range because of its unique and pleasant odour profile which helps the creation of milk/cream gourmand notes. There aren't many real alternatives of which we're currently aware of; we think it has an important place in the perfumer's palette. It blends well with vanillin.
