Nerol is a widespread terpene, commonly found in essential oils and first identified in Neroli; hence the name. It sits somewhere between geraniol and citronellol in odour and presents a rosy-citrus character. It’s naturally found in roses and is often used to freshen rose accords. It’s useful far beyond roses however as a structural option in any floral accord or as a general heart note in fragrances.
