Pear is a juicy green fruit with a sweet, floral and velvety taste.
It sits concretely among other top notes where it adds a burst of sweet and fresh aroma. Natural extraction has not been successful yet and so a synthetic accord needs to be composed.
To create a pear note in your perfume you can either use a base like Pear natural, a sweet, green realistic pear reconstruction or construct one. Jean-Claude Ellena uses fructone - a sweet apple molecule; geraniol - a juicy rose and hexyl acetate for his signature pear accord. Our resident perfumer recommends the following:
hexyl acetate as the cornerstone of pear identity; geraniol for the realism and a gentle floral facet; William’s ester to communicate the fresh watery pear skin aroma and peranat, a green and juicy pear molecule.
It is important to be mindful when dosing hexyl acetate as the amount determines in which direction your pear goes. In small concentration the final scent is of a pear fruit while overdosed it presents as pear candy.
