Pear is a juicy, green and sweet fruit with floral facets. It sits amongst the top notes, where it provides a sweetness similar to apples and a crisp, green scent. Natural extraction of pears has not yet been successful in the context of perfumery, so synthetic accords are necessary. Pear Natural by Robertet is a ready-to-blend base that faithfully replicates the juicy, green and sweet character of the pear fruit.
To construct a pear accord, the famous perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena uses fructone, a sugary apple molecule that adds fruity sweetness; geraniol, a rosy material with a citronella edge found in most florals; and hexyl acetate, an instantly recognisable molecule responsible for the smell of pear candy. Our resident perfumer recommends adding to those William’s ester and peranat to communicate the fresh, realistic and watery pear-skin aroma. It is important to be mindful when dosing hexyl acetate, as the amount determines which direction your pear takes. In small concentrations the final scent is of pear fruit, whilst overdosed it presents as pear candy.
